Company history

The Ethical Partnership was set up in 1998 as a Co-operative and went limited in 2001. As you can see below, the Directors have accumulated many years of experience in the financial services industry.

Jeremy Newbegin qualified as a Land Surveyor in the Royal Engineers and also worked in the Zambian copper mines and on the Thames Barrier project before deciding on a career change in 1979. He initially worked at Sun Life of Canada for three years before joining Standard Life as a Broker Consultant in 1982. In 1983 he became an Independent Financial Adviser, working at County Financial Services, University Medical & General, New Life Investment Management Ltd (where he experienced his first foray into ethical investment as the company managed its own Ethical PEP and Ethical Discretionary Portfolio Management Service), Noble Grant, and Ethical Financial Ltd. Jeremy co-founded the ethical partnership in 1998 and helped establish the Ethical Investment Association (EIA) in the same year.

Simon Kirkup graduated from University with an Honours Degree in Agriculture and became a Farmer. In 1991 he too decided on a career change and joined the Pearl before becoming an independent financial adviser in 1997, working for Ethical Financial Ltd. He co-founded the ethical partnership in 1998, and also helped establish the Ethical Investment Association (EIA) in the same year.

Gregory Braithwaite joined the financial services industry straight from school in 1978, working for Sun Life Assurance Society for ten years before becoming an independent financial adviser in 1988. He joined the ethical partnership in 2001.

Michael Marsden joined the Financial Services Industry in 1984 and worked in Management with FS Assurance who later became Britannia Life (the Financial Services arm of Britannia Building Society). He has been an Independent Financial Adviser since 1992 and joined the ethical partnership in 2004.

Planning to succeed

We all have financial needs, and finding an affordable solution to meeting those needs is an area that many people seek advice upon.

Your needs today could be significantly different to those of the future. Holistic financial planning can provide a means of reducing current tax liabilities as well as enabling you to provide for your future, taking into account your beliefs and lifestyle.

You may wish to plan for a child’s education, or the purchase of a dream home or perhaps for income in your retirement.

No effective financial plan can ignore the effects of outside influences like accidents, long term illness or loss of employment. It is also important to consider the effects on others were you to die.

Our independence

As Independent Financial Advisers, our business has no links or ties to any one product provider. We can access Life Assurance, Pension or Investment products from across the whole marketplace. This means we can choose from amongst 30,000 financial products to provide the best financial solutions for you.
