Company history

The Ethical Partnership was established in 1998 as a Co-operative and became a limited company in 2001. The ethical partnership Directors have accumulated many years of experience in the financial services industry. From left to right above:
Jeremy Newbegin started his career at Sun Life of Canada, and went on to work at Standard Life and Sun Life Unit Services before joining New Life Investment Management Ltd in 1986. He was appointed Sales Director in 1987 and during this time he experienced his first foray into ethical investment as the company managed its own Ethical PEP and Ethical Discretionary Portfolio Management Service. He co-founded the ethical partnership in 1998 and in the same year he helped establish the Ethical Investment Association (EIA) working on the steering committee. Jeremy has the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate in Personal Savings & Investment.
Michael Marsden joined the financial services industry in 1984 working in the South West of England and in 1987 moved to Southampton where he was appointed Branch Sales Manager of the Investment and Pensions arm of Britannia Building Society, Britannia Life. He has been an Independent Financial Adviser for nearly 20 years and has clients throughout the UK. In 2009, Michael joined the ethical partnership as a Director in 2005. He has extensive experience in providing bespoke financial planning advice for both Personal and Corporate Clients. Michael is also qualified by examination with the Certificate of Mortgage Practice (CeMAP) by the Institute of Banking to enable him to provide expert mortgage advice and also the Advanced Financial Planning Certificate Examination (F10) in Taxation and Trusts by the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Gregory Braithwaite joined the industry straight from school in October 1978 at Sun Life starting in their new business branch; later moving to a department dealing with exiting years he moved to work with an Independent Financial Advisor, initially as the technical support progressing to directly advising clients which he has been doing successfully for over 13 years. Gregory joined The Ethical Partnership in September 2000. Gregory holds the higher qualifications in Mortgage Advice, Personal Taxation and Pension Planning.
Simon Kirkup joined the Pearl in 1991 before becoming an independent financial adviser in 1997, working for Ethical Financial Ltd. He co-founded the ethical partnership in 1998, and also helped establish the Ethical Investment Association (EIA) in the same year. He has advanced qualifications in Home Reversion and Equity Release Schemes, Mortgage Advice, Lifetime Mortgages, and Taxation and Trusts.
John Morton, a founding Director, retired in 2009, but his clients continue to be serviced by the company.
